There should be immense joy in living, in taking pleasure in the things that spark joy and continue to do those things in our life. Why is there such a term as ‘guilty pleasure’? We’d like to break through this term and, instead, provide encouragement to continue to take part in these pleasures. Life is too short to question the enjoyable parts of it.??????????????????

Here are some common guilty pleasures that you should absolutely, without a doubt, stop feeling guilty about.

1. Watching TV to your heart’s content.
Do you have a subscription to Amazon Prime Vidoe? Netflix? Hulu? All of it? Good for you! Why not take pleasure in watching some really quality television shows and movies, or even those more low-quality ones. If TV is a way that you can relax at the end of a long day, immersing yourself in a storyline that isn’t your own, allowing your imagination to be activated, there is no guilt in that.

2. Staying in your pajamas all day.
Again, why not? Provided you don’t have anything to do outside of your home, and aren’t expected to take any video conference calls for work from home, and provided that pajamas make you feel comfortable and/or entitled to a lazy day, go for it!

3. Enjoying treats.
Far be it for us to have anything negative to say about enjoying treats. After all, Terri Guillemets, a quotation anthologist, once said, “Desserts are the fairy tales of dining — a happily-ever-after to supper.” Whether after dinner or at any other time of the day, cherish your treats. Savor them. Share them with loved ones, all without guilt.

4. Singing out loud in the car.
Somewhere between childhood and adulthood, we become self-conscious in public. We sometimes miss out on the innocence of our youth. While “adulting” is frequently necessary, if you want to sing your favorite song at the top of your lungs in broad daylight in your car where anybody driving close by can see you, the answer is simple: do it!

What do you do that sparks joy? Never apologize for it. Instead, embrace the small and pleasurable things in life, starting now!
